:iconwildfire-tama: Heavy clouds hung ominously over the horizon of Shadow Empire. It was an unusually warm winter day, and the snow on the camp floor was less deep than it had been before. She trotted toward the camp entrance, glancing over her shoulder to see if anyone was watching, and then she faced the forest again. With the snow less deep and not as deterring, Ambriel was eager to explore. The young cub padded forward tentatively, her pale green eyes wide as she stepped into the forest.

:icondragotan: Nadav sat atop a rock, laying in the warm sun, it was cold and she pulled her blue scarf closer around her neck. The sun warmed her pelt, and though she did enjoy laying in it. She was starting to get bored, Mamma Thalia was busy, and wouldn't let her into the medicine den. So she picked at a crack in the rock, with a black claw bored.

Then she looked around camp, perking her ears up as she saw a small lion hybrid cub walking towards the entrance of camp. She paused - they weren't allowed out of camp right? She glanced towards the medicine den, should she tell Thalia?

She imagined Thalia fussing at her and the other cub. And decided against it, she already gut fussed at once today, best to leave the Healer alone for now. Instead she sat up, stretching her stiff muscles. She hopped down, trotting over to the cub. She almost tripped over her scarf, as she awkwardly stumbled.

"Hello! Uh, I'm Nadav, what's your name?" She asked, perking her ear's up, and glancing away slightly shy.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel whirled around, blinking in surprise. She clearly had not expected being addressed by another cat. ”Oh!” she said, and then her shocked expression turned into a warm smile. ”Hi Nadav. My name is Ambriel.” the cub said, ”I am Sariel’s daughter. Whose daughter are you?” Ambiel asked curiously, leaning forward to give Nadav a friendly sniff, her tail high and waving gently in the air.

:icondragotan: "That's a nice name, its nice to meet you! I'm the daughter of Thalia...Er, I think I am anyways..." She paused, confused for a moment. She considered Thalia her mother, but the question was did Thalia? She wasn't sure, but she waved her tail and smiled.

"Where are you going? Can I come with you?" She asked,  jumping up excitedly. She was eager for something fun and adventurous to do, and Ambriel seemed like a friendly cub to do it with.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel smiled at the compliment, ”Thank you! Nadav is a nice name too!” she gave Nadav a queer look, ”You think? What do you mean you think? How can you now know if she is your mother?” Ambriel asked, confused.

She smiled happily as Nadav asked to come with her, ”Yes, of course! I just wanted to explore a bit, come on!” Ambriel said, leading the way into the forest with one last look behind her to make sure no one was watching. She didn’t want to go far, but just explore the territory a little bit. And it would be even more fun now that she had a friend to explore with.

:icondragotan: Nadav smiled, but the smile changed to a expression of uncertainty. "Hmm...Well," She paused. She wasn't sure, she couldn't remember much of the night that she met Thalia. She just remembered feeling very ill, and Thalia made her feel better.
"She is my Mamma, but I don't know if she likes me....I think I annoy her...So that's why I'm not sure." She said, her ear's flattening against her head.

But the Hybrid cub cheered up when Ambriel asked her to come along, she perked her ears up. "Yay!" She said, rather loudly as she jumped up and jogged on after her new found friend. Her tail swishing behind her happily, "I always like adventures!" She said, smiling.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel smiled happily as Nadav agreed to come with her, and she breathed in the forest scents, looking around at them as she listened to Nadav’s explanation about her mother. She looked sharply at Nadav as she admitted that she didn’t think that Thalia liked her. ”Your mom doesn’t like you?” she cried, outraged, ”That is impossible! Moms always love their cubs!” She tried to think for a moment of a world where her mother Sariel did not love her… how terrible… how awful… how… shattering that would feel. Her heart went out to Nadav, she could not even imagine what it must be like to think your own mother didn’t like you.

:icondragotan: ”That is impossible! Moms always love their cubs!
Nadav felt both a little embarrassed, but also slightly relieved by this statement. It was impossible? So Thalia did like her? Why did she always seem so annoyed though? Maybe she's playing a game? And she's waiting to see how long it takes me to find out. Like hide-n-seek right? The cub seemed to cheer up,
"Maybe she does like me, but she's pretending not too. Like a game! So I just have to keep trying!" She said, perking up, as they padded along into the forest. Part of her remembered Thalia telling her to never go into the forest alone...But she wasn't alone! She had Ambriel! Therefore it must be okay Nadav thought.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel was not very well satisfied at Nadav’s answer as Nadav herself was. A mother pretending not to like her cub? It all just sounded so strange! She didn’t know Thalia very well at all, but she wondered why she would make her own cub feel like this. Sometimes adults were so strange.

But Nadav seemed happy now, so Ambriel let it go. ”Speaking of games…” Ambriel gave Nadav a mischievous grin and bumped her with her shoulder, ”Tag, you’re it!” With a happy laugh the young cub raced ahead.

:icondragotan: Nadav was glad to see Ambriel let it go, her face then lit up with a smile as the cub touched her and bolted away as quick as lighting. It took her a few seconds to register what she said, then she giggled jumping up and racing after her.

"Rawr! Imma gonna getcha!" She said playfully, chasing after her new friend.

:iconwildfire-tama: ”You can try!” Ambriel called back, darting through the undergrowth, paws pounding into wet snow, as she weaved through the thick undergrowth of forest. Suddenly she saw a flash of movement in the corner of her eye. Just the smallest silver flash and she skidded to a halt in alarm. A noise was echoing through the forest, a sort of soft patter, and then she suddenly felt something cold and wet on her forehead. She sprang backward in alarm. ”W-what’s happening?” she cried in shock, looking up at the sky as more of the little water droplets fell. She bristled at the chill as she stared up in wonder. Ambriel had only ever seen snow, but never rain.

:icondragotan: Nadav giggled as she kicked off with her strong back legs, chasing Ambriel through the forest, she felt the grass brush against her belly as she suddenly skidded to a halt suddenly. Nadav tilted her head, glancing up, wet rain splattered down onto them.

"What do you mean? Its just rain, it won't hurt you." She said, Nadav was used to the cold refreshing rain, she was born in the rain in fact. She didn't understand why Ambriel was scared, but she didn't like seeing her friends scared. So she nuzzled her shoulder gently,
"Hey its okay, I'm here, I promise it won't hurt you! Its just water, that's all!" She said, smiling, trying to help her relax.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel turned to Nadav with her pale green eyes wide, drinking in the comfort that came from her friend’s serenity in this new situation. ”Rain?” Ambriel echoed. Nadav came right up to her and nuzzled her shoulder and Ambriel smiled, significantly comforted by her friend’s gentle soothes. She flinched as bit as icy water landed on her pelt. ”Just water?” Ambriel lifted her head again, but when a drop landed in one of her wide eyes she recoiled sharply and shook her head.

She relaxed visibly, ”Oh, just water! So it is like snow falling, only water instead!” Ambriel cried, finally comprehending what was happening.

:icondragotan: Nadav pressed her side up against Ambriel when she flinched, letting her know she was there. She was glad to see her relax though and nodded, "Yeah, its just like melted snow." She said, smiling, she looked up into the sky. Letting the water droplets land on her face and flow down her cheeks. It felt cool and refreshing, she blinked a few times then turned her head back towards Ambriel.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel laughed, relieved that it was something so harmless, and so fun! She raced in a circle, her eyes lifted to the sky as she watched the rain fall around them, pattering on the trees and the ground. ”It makes such a beautiful sound!” Ambriel cried. It was like a soft soothing song. She finally sat down beside Nadav, closing her eyes and opening her jaws, catching the drops on her tongue.

:icondragotan: Nadav was happy to see Ambriel wasn't afraid anymore, she giggled swishing her tail. As she jumped up, she tried to catch the raindrops as they landed, jumping up and clapping her paws together in an effort to catch them. The cool water felt good on her paws, she laughed and giggle,

"Come catch them with me!" She said to Ambriel.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel opened her eyes and glanced at Nadav, watching as she clapped her paws against the rain drops. She sat up on her haunches, her paws in the air, as she watched the raindrops come down. She tried to reach forward, but there were so many! They all fell on her paws and she flicked them at the strange sensation, little droplets spraying everywhere.

She finally got the hang of it by watching Nadav, reaching forward and clapping her paws together, capturing the icy drops. After a few she shivered suddenly as a little breeze went by. ”Brrr, they are so cold!” Ambriel said, ruffling her short fur. The rain was fun, but she found herself now looking around for shelter as the icy tinge pricked her over and over.

:icondragotan: As they played in the rain clapping their paws, the clouds grew darker and the rain slowly started to get thicker and come down harder. Soaking Nadav's fur in cold droplets, she turned her head towards Ambriel. She was right, it was getting a bit too cold for her as well.

She nodded, "We best get some shelter, the rain is turning into a storm I think..." She said, glancing back towards camp. That was, except she didn't remember which way camp was. She felt her heart skip a beat What if we're lost?!. But she decided not to voice her concerned, let’s get out of the rain first... She looked around.

"Look there! That big oak tree has a hollowed out base, we could hide in there?"  She said pointing at it with her tail, under the large roots was a nice little den-like hole that they both could fit in and get out of the rain.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel looked at Nadav as she said they would find shelter, hoping that she had some insight as to what to do now. As Ambriel expected, Nadav did know what to do, quickly finding a little den beneath an oak tree. ”Yeah, that’s perfect!” Ambriel said, bounding toward it. She paused right when she reached the entrance, hesitating as she stared into the depths. Hopefully nothing was in there. She peered inside carefully. She couldn’t smell anything in the rain, but it was a small shelter… it was probably fine. She slipped into the shadows.

:icondragotan: Nadav followed after her friend, slipping into the darkness of the den. Her eyes reflected the light, giving them a bit of a shin to them due to her night vision. It was a small little den, but enough space and cover for them to fit. Nadav circled around a few times then laid down on the floor of it, looking up at Ambriel.

"If we lay close together we're be warmer," she said, her ear's perking up.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel watched Nadav settle down on the floor and copied her movements, sitting down beside her. She glanced at Nadav as she suggested them lying close together and the jaguar hybrid complied immediately, scooting closer to Nadav and cuddling up next to her, cooing contently as she breathed in the comforting scent of the fellow cub. She blinked her pale green eyes after a moment, looking at Nadav, ”Your eyes, they are bluer than the sky!” she said. She had never really noticed, but in the dim light with only their depths sparkling in their little den they looked like two gems.

:icondragotan: Nadav snuggled closer to her friend, fluffing out her fur for more warmth as their bodies were curled up close together now. It was hard to see where the separation was anymore, they just looked like one big bundle of fluffy fur. "hmm?" Nadav was slightly surprised by her friends comment, turning her head to look up into the pale green eyes of Ambriel.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel let out a happy sigh as she started to warm up, enjoying the sheer closeness of her friend and the warmth and comfort it provided. She smiled at Nadav, ”Your eyes,” she repeated. ”They are so blue. My sister as blue eyes too. I have always been so jealous.” she explained with a giggle.

:icondragotan: Nadav giggled slightly, "Blue is one of my favorite colours! What's your favorite colour?" She asked, peering up at the lioness, "Your eyes are a pretty colour too though, I think they look very pretty!" She added smiling. Nadav felt herself warming up as well, her pelt starting to feel less wet and more dry and warm. She could hear the rain pouring down outside.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel smiled, ”I like it too. My favorite color is amber, though, my mama’s eye color… they look like two golden sunrises!” She said, a dreamy tone to her voice. She looked plainly shocked at Nadav’s comment. Her eyes a pretty color? No, her mother’s eyes were pretty! Her sister’s eyes were pretty! Nadav’s eyes were pretty! But her eyes… they were dull… dull greenish… she hated them. But here was a cat telling her that they are pretty? She smiled shyly, blinking at Nadav through eyes narrowed fondly. ”You… you really think so?” she mewed softly.

:icondragotan: "Amber is a nice colour too, my mamma has amber eyes too!" She said with a cheerful smile, her tail swishing behind her as she spoke. Nadav loved her mamma very much. She was a bit confused as to why Ambriel didn't like her own eyes. Nadav thought Ambriel's eye's were very petty, she nodded.

"Yes, really I think they are beautiful! They reminded me of an open grassy field!" She said, smiling up at her friend.

:iconwildfire-tama: Ambriel lowered her gaze bashfully and snuggled up to Nadav, purring gratefully. She loved open grassy fields… the fact that her eyes reminded Nadav of them gave her a bit more confidence in herself. ”Thanks Nadav…” she felt her consciousness begin to drift off between the warmth of her friend and soothing patter of the rain outside. She yawned widely.

:icondragotan: Nadav smiled, "No problem," she said letting out a little yawn herself, she rested her chin against Ambriel. Her eyes felt heavy, and she slowly closed them drifting off into darkness.
