Hekate pays Shenandoah a visit one day to offer her a place in Vektren. The red mistress distrusts Alar, and expects that the fallen King Renier would be displeased to see his daughter in such hands. In honor of their previous alliance and the respect she felt for the former King, Hekate feels somewhat responsible for Shen's fate, knowing that a wolf of Shen's lineage would thrive among Vektren and the young she-wolf would also finally have a stable home.

On Shen's end, Hekate has always been on her side, when she thinks about it. She was a friend of her father's, a wolf who fought by her side in the rebellion, and a wolf who generously offered she and Alar a place to stay even though they had nothing to offer in return. Hekate's offer was shocking to Shen, after all why would anyone want a wolf who was constantly being fooled and who lead both her and Hekate's own wolves to defeat in war? It's an overwhelming display of forgiveness and compassion in Shen's eyes. And equally as tempting. After all this time with wolves she hated and who hated her, could she finally have found a place to belong?

Shenandoah may not have gotten a good first impression of Vektren, but her opinion is changing as she actually gets to know these wolves, and finds good friends in some. But still... it's a big decision. And there is Alar's desires to consider too, since she wouldn't want to leave he and Raban. Shen will definitely need to take some time to think this over...
